July Financial Planning News Roundup
Welcome to the Summer edition of the Davis Financial Group’s newsletter, The Navigator. This edition represents a departure from past issues which were more focused on the impact of Covid on the financial markets and featured regular updates by our Chief Financial Officer Daken Vanderburg. His updates are now less frequent, and we will feature them as they roll off the press, but we are turning to a more normalized environment and now feature our roundup of news and views from the financial and popular press as they impact the main areas of financial planning.
In this edition we feature 6 articles on a range of these topics:
Converting Traditional IRAs to Roth IRAs requires careful planning by a team of specialists in collaboration with each other – this process is not for “do-it-yourselfers” and needs the collaboration of a CPA, a Financial Planner/CFP, and an investment advisor.
What is the cost of “women’s indifference” to financial matters? Read it and understand the opportunities women are leaving on the table by not taking their seat at the financial table!
The first half of the year has seen some impressive market returns. Are investors now getting nervous? Why are so many looking for some level of guarantees or buffering against potential losses going forward?
Congress is hard at work looking at potential changes to the rules about taking required distributions from IRAs and other qualified plans. There is even more need to work with a planner as you try to navigate the new terrain!
There are more options that many believe to be the case in how you take your Required Minimum Distributions. Learn here for example about the option to take distributions “in kind”, without liquidating anything.
What is keeping you from saving more for retirement? See if you have company!
Here is a link to our blog that focuses on the interests and needs of “Aging Solos”, folks navigating the world more or less on their own. The two new articles focus on “Housing” and “Life Expectancy”, each with a particular connection to challenges for Solos as they look into their retirement years.
